LATE NITE HP PERFORMERS

Oberlin Steel Emeritus
Steelband
Oberlin Steel Emeritus had its humble beginnings in the small town of
Oberlin in northern Ohio. Its members, who hail from cities such as Mt. Vernon, NY; Foster City, CA; Oberlin, OH,
Oxford, OH, and Highland Park, IL, began studying and performing steelband literature while attending Oberlin College.
With this foundation in the music of the Caribbean, the members of OSE traveled to Trinidad & Tobago, birthplace of
he steelpan, to participate in the National Panorama Finals.
Oberlin's members have performed with champion steelbands such as the Trinidad All-Stars,
Renegades, Sforzata, and Pan Sonatas. Following in the traditions of these Trinidadian steelbands, OSE's repertoire
ranges from traditional calypso to American pop and jazz. Yet, across these genres, each piece is infused with the
infectious energy of the Caribbean islands.
So sing, dance, and enjoy the music of Oberlin Steel Emeritus! For more about Oberlin Steel
