LATE NITE HP PERFORMERS

The Warning Label

The Warning Label was formed in early 2004 in the Niles North Jazz Band (directed by John Jones/Elton Eislie). After a concert at Oakton Community College, the rhythm section, Mike Zabrin, Kevin Iles and Aaron Zolotor, began to jam in a practice room.

As bassist Mike describes "There was just an instant connection between the three of us. We really locked in together and knew how to hold a groove."Being the rhythm section of the Jazz Band, they decided to form a band of their own. Kevin Iles called up a friend from his previous band, guitarist Peter Cinko. Mike called singer Max Gasman from his previous band. After a few months together, Aaron left and was replaced by our current drummer Ben Silverman.

They immediately started writing some of their hit songs such as "Superstar" and "American Dreamer". "We didn't really spend too much time on covers," Ben recalls, "we wanted to write our own style of music, and I think we've been doing a pretty good job of that."

The summer of 2007, Max left and Kevin took over lead vocals. This is the point in time where we really became known as The Warning Label. Guitarist Peter Cinko and singer and guitarist Kevin Iles would always come to rehearsal with a new guitar lick. Mike would add in the lyrics and they would have a song. The band describes it as a very simple process when you know how to play together.

They started playing venues around town and really got the word out about their music. Mike, who is the bassist of The Warning Label and writes the lyrics for the band, says "It was like once you heard one of our songs, you knew the words. People remember them and it's a great feeling." The Warning Label went on playing gigs such as Bill's Blues, Lincolnwood Fest, Old Town, Thillens Stadium, and gigs booked by BigTime Entertainment which helped get the word out about the band.

You can buy their new CD "Human Condition" by sending an email to mike@thewarninglabel.com.
